The shock absorber top mount is a key component of a car's suspension system. Its main function is to connect the shock absorber to the vehicle body, buffering vibrations and impacts during driving, while reducing direct friction between metal components.
When a vehicle is in motion, the shock absorber top mount absorbs road impacts through the elastic deformation of its rubber. For example, when going over a speed bump, the top mount is first compressed, converting the impact force into the rubber's internal energy, and then slowly released, preventing the vehicle from suddenly bouncing. Simultaneously, it also isolates vibrations from the internal metal components of the shock absorber, reducing noise transmission into the passenger compartment. Furthermore, the elastic properties of the top mount affect wheel alignment parameters, such as camber and caster angles, which in turn affect steering precision and tire wear uniformity.
